A revolutionary business club concept to reflect “a new way of working in the future” was introduced exclusively in Glasgow – ahead of later openings in London and New York.

SocietyM was created by citizenM hotels, and shares its sister brand’s ideals. Like citizenM, SocietyM is an enterprise based on fulfilling the needs of a new group of people – business nomads. This will be the first business club of its kind with its members – business nomads – buying into its flexibility, connectivity, space and style.

SocietyM offers business nomads spacious meeting rooms, each fully equipped with audiovisual equipment, wipe-clean walls for notes, theories and scribbles, and a Nespresso machine. There’s also a screening room for up to 50 people, a relaxing lounge area, bookshelves full of inspiration, and free WIFI. And, of course, with citizenM hotel just upstairs members can rest up before another day of world-changing idea-making.

The styling behind SocietyM is old ways of working meets new contemporary design. There are: 84 sq metres of chalk/ white board walls, 40 typewriters, 60 cameras and 25 phones from vintage collectors shops around the world, Andreas Kock artwork in the club room and Vitra furniture throughout, flight-style food and drink trolleys plus Nespresso machines in every room, six creative rooms for up to 12 people, large screening room for 50 and club room for events.

Taste for me is enjoying life. By dressing up and wearing stylish clothing, I try to be an example and avoid society’s doom. When you look back at history, people at the beginning of the 20th century where dressed properly and showing respect was very important. With my lifestyle and by showing respect to others, I hope I contribute to a more social society.
I love to eat and taste new culinary delights. I can enjoy a simple dish like pasta with homemade pesto. But a 6 course dinner with wine tickles my senses as well. The company I’m with is always very inspiring and influences my taste, because having dinner with friends or clients takes me to different places. By going out to dinner a lot and reading about etiquette, I’ve learned to appreciate more various tastes. Having dinner in a restaurant is not only about the food, it’s the complete experience. In Amsterdam a lot of waiters are students, wearing their own clothing. In Barcelona, all the staff wear work wear, that’s easier to recognize and looks so much more professional! Taste can be found in the bigger picture, but the smaller details refine your taste.

Taste for us is: beauty in general and being curious in particular. To taste the nectar means finding the best spots, culinary delights, groundbreaking design and outstanding people. And most of all: noticing the small details. To taste the nectar means living life to the fullest. Enjoying every second of it. Making the most of now. Getting into it. Giving 100%. Feeling alive. Nectar & Pulse is the new way of discovering places; choose your local soul mate and discover only what really interests you and suits your trip best!

The Pavilion Downtown Dubai, opposite the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, is buzzing. It is the new creative hangout of hipsters and artists. The Pavilion includes two art galleries, a restaurant, a cinema, a library, an espresso bar, a Shisha cafe and a lounge. The spaces in The Pavilion are open, airy and filled with light. The unique interior design is simple but amazingly crafted in all natural materials. The Pavilion is designed the way you want it to be… A creative place to work, study, socialize or just to get inspired. I go to The Pavilion to visit the exhibitions of rising regional artists like Laleh Khorramian, to have a quick coffee and to enjoy the company of a funky mixed crowd. It feels good to sometimes break away from the shiny, polished and extravagant Dubai symbolized by the Burj Khalifa and indulge in the pure and creative simplicity of The Pavilion.

As a French/Spanish guy I love the mix of my double culture. I’ve been raised with French food, the best cuisine in the world. But as I was involved with a cooking video recipe application from Spain, I got more and more involved with the Spanish kitchen. I like the colorful and happy ‘tapas and cañas’ culture, although I can see how the noisy bars, the napkins all over the floor can be a weird experience for tourists. My job as New Media Manager for a TV station made for the perfect combination of taste and digital. Developing mobile applications about food and cooking taught me to experience international cuisines, trends and food photography. Cooking became a viral interest online and helped the Spanish kitchen be discovered worldwide. People and the Spanish chefs realized that there is more than ‘tortillas and cervezas’. Spanish chefs have developed and with examples as El Bulli and many other young chefs, the Spaniards got more taste.

Canal Cocina is the TV station I work for and creating this application definitely influenced my taste.

They say that taste is acquired. Well, it seems that some people missed out when they were conceived. Especially men, they need a little bit more styling than women these days. The basics for men are easy: a good suit, some nice jeans, good shirts and stylish sunglasses. A tailored suit is not just for the rich anymore: for a few hundred euros you can have a made-to-measure suit. Jeans are very complicated, dark jeans usually do the trick for casual and semi-formal occasions. Probably the best place in Amsterdam to buy jeans is Tenue de Nimes, on Elandsgracht in Amsterdam. Good shirts are widely available, but first of all it’s important to have a plain white shirt. Cheap but fairly okay shirts can be bought at WE, better ones also at Tenue de Nimes or SuitSupply. As for sunglasses, this is primarily a matter of someone’s own taste. Ray-Ban sunglasses are always okay. Sunglasses for 10 euro are questionable. Having taste can be difficult, but it is worth trying just some simple adaptations to personal style.

As editor in chief for the online magazine, Ajanaku.com, people always remark that I have good taste. But what is this good taste? It isn’t that I received a master in good taste, or even own a book with all things tasty. In the end it is purely sharing what inspires me with others. In the end Taste is purely Subjective. Meaning taking place within the mind and modified by individual bias, we individually decide when something has taste, not only aesthetically, but also via the sense of ‘Taste.’ This is what helps us open discussion with others; this is what gives us passion in the belief of something. In the end Taste is purely a tool to set yourself apart from other, to be an individual. Taste is what defines you and all as a person. All we do is ‘Taste Taste.’
